I create visual work and participatory projects for healthcare environments, designed to support wellbeing, reduce anxiety and create engaging, human-centred spaces.
My approach combines artwork, digital processes and interaction to develop projects that respond sensitively to patients, visitors and staff.

Listening Art
During a residency at Great North Children’s Hospital, I developed a series of interactive and visual projects designed to engage young patients and create moments of creativity within a clinical environment.
Using my custom-built iCoda software, I created projected visual experiences within the MediCinema space, transforming drawings, sounds and visual inputs into evolving digital imagery.

Alongside this, I introduced “doodle stations,” where children could create their own drawings, which were then incorporated into the live visual system — giving them a direct and playful connection to the artwork.
The project focused on participation, imagination and distraction, offering a creative outlet within the hospital setting.
1:1 WORKSHOPS
Thank you so much for coming to work with some of the young people at GNCH on this project.
It was great that you were able to engage so many young people who clearly enjoyed your sessions very much. The fact that the sessions resulted in tangible objects was an added bonus.
Also the work you did (and the photos which I managed to download) has enabled the young people to achieve the ‘working with an artist’ objective of the ‘Discover ‘arts award.’
I look forward to seeing the results in the Medicinema.
It would be great if we could enable some of the young people who did the work to come to your showing.Joanna Cook (Bridges)

I hired an experienced Workshop Artist to visit private Children’s wards to create collages, drawings and interact with not just iCoda but a collective of paintbox mobile apps to create content for the MediCinema installation.
